Description
Redmond Clay is a pure, bentonite clay (also known as montmorillonite clay) that Redmond mines not too far from their salt mine near Redmond, Utah. Deposited many years ago as the ash of now-inactive volcanoes, it’s unique in that it contains both calcium and sodium (with twice as much calcium as sodium). It also includes a blend of natural, beneficial trace minerals. We gather it from the earth, crush it into powder, and put it in a jar or bucket without any additives, chemicals, preservatives, or other fillers.
You can use this ready-to-mix powder in your mud masks or other home recipes that call for bentonite clay. Our simple recipe for a facial mask is one part Redmond Clay to two parts water. Mix into a smooth, creamy paste, adding water as needed. Pre-mixed ready to use gel. Mix two parts water with one part Redmond Clay to make a gel or mud the consistency of mustard.
Apply the gel/paste directly to the skin. If you desire a tightening effect, leave it on until it is almost dry, then remove. If you desire a more cooling and soothing effect, cover the gel with a plastic covering or wet cloth so it won’t dry out. To remove the clay pack, wash it off with water and a gentle rubbing motion.
Other external uses are as a talcum powder or a diapering powder.
Redmond Clay is an old Home Remedy used for generations. Geologically, Redmond Clay is volcanic ash that was deposited in sea water approximately 150 million years ago. Redmond brings this “clay of a thousand uses” to market in its natural state with no additives, chemicals or preservatives. The only processing it undergoes is crushing and screening.
