Description
USA. About 0.10 lb. Fresh turmeric is a bright orange root-like subterranean stem (aka a rhizome) famous for powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
When you use it in its fresh form, turmeric is more mild, so you can use a whole root (about 3 inches long) in a single recipe. It can be added to soups, stews, stir-fries, curry dishes, smoothies, salads, roasted vegetable dishes, baked goods, and more.
Turmeric can be frozen!
How to Use Frozen Turmeric: Remove turmeric from the freezer when you need it. If you let it thaw, it will be a lot softer than fresh roots. If you’re going to add it to a blender, this is not a problem. If you’re going to grate it, do it while frozen. It will be less messy, though it will still stain. There is no need to peel turmeric. Protect your fingers, clothing and any surfaces because turmeric will stain.
