Description
This organic long grain Red Rice retains its entire bran layer where all of the grain’s nutrients are stored. It cooks in only 30 minutes, producing a slightly nutty flavor and a toothsome yet tender grain. Our Organic Red Rice is grown on family farms in Southeast Asia (Thailand).
The Koloharena Cooperative is located on Lake Alaotra's, which is home to the critically endangered Alaotran Gentle Lemur. It is hoped that SRI farming practices will help reduce degradation of the lemur's dwindling habitat by making existing land more productive without the need for polluting chemicals. Cooking Instructions:
Combine 1 ¾ cups of water, 1 cup rice and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand covered for a few minutes. Fluff and serve. A rice cooker may be used with the same water-to-rice ratio.
